ORIGINS

The original name was in Italian "L'Ordine Figli d'Italia" (Order of Sons of Italy).  Dr Vincenzo Sollaro, OSIA Founder whose hopes are quoted here:   "…our children and their children's children …will be able and proud to continue to carry on our traditions, our culture and our language."

 

MILESTONES

OSIA is the oldest and largest national organization in the United States for Italian American men and women.

OSIA has a grass roots network of more than 700 lodges or chapters coast-to-coast.  

Since 1959 the Sons of Italy Foundation has given more than $85 million to scholarships, medical research, disaster relief and other projects.  

Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF) is the philanthropic arm of OSIA.  Since 1959, the SIF has given more than $85 million to scholarships, medical research, disaster relief and other projects.  

                                 1905 -      OSIA founded on June 22 in New York City.

                                 1935 -      OSIA reaches coast-to-coast.

                                 1959 -      OSIA establishes the Sons of Italy Foundation (SIF).  

                                 1993 -     Joanne Strollo becomes first woman elected OSIA national President.
